"We must bring attention to the hate that impacts all communities"

Reports of increased anti-Asian hate in 2021 are, sadly, not a surprise

Our community is so vulnerable at this point that we’re not sure if we can handle more. We’re just very afraid

And a recent survey published earlier this month from the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum (NAPAWF) found that 74% of Asian American and Pacific Islander women reported experiencing racism and/or discrimination over the last year, and 53% said the perpetrator was a stranger or someone they didn't know.

Last week marked a year since a man murdered eight women — six of them Asian American — at massage parlors across the metro Atlanta area. It was the peak of national awareness of the problem and inspired public condemnations and decrees that disavowed such hatred. Despite all the political statements and impassioned pleas from victims, there was little meaningful change in how the justice system holds perpetrators accountable.
